Good Pedigree (Foundation stallion, ?Zane Gray?)1968 Grand Champion of the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breeders Association, owned by the (then) original ?President of the Breeders Cup,? Dale Esther, of Lebanon, Missouri. ?Zane Gray? is found on both sides of her parents.
Her Particular Attributes, Temperament, and in Her Lineage:
Great confirmation (breeding prospect ? has not yet been bred)
Excellent manners ! ? ?Timid? Natured, Never ?pushy,? or, ?resists? - VERY PATIENT, KIND, and TOLERANT / stands quietly for every kind of handling perfectly ? LOVES grooming, baths (AND a HOSE !).
NEVER ?aggressive,? or ?mare-ish,? (Never attempted to bite, kick, etc?was ?#3? in the ?pecking order,? of her former 4 horse pasture).
Respects fencing (won?t even get close to it) -- Easy to work around -- Loves to be ?fussed? over -
Former owners have also taken her for ACTHA trail riding events and camping trips.
Brave on Trail ? PREFERS to follow ? but WILL take ?lead? if asked. ?Startles-Still? when surprised by ?bush-monsters.?
SMOOOOTH Maintained Gait when asked.
Temperament: I place her as a number ?2,? - best suited for an advanced beginner and above rider.
Tends to have a ?cautious? personality
SHE CAME FROM, and MUST GO TO A GOOD HOME ONLY, therefore, we reserve the right to ask for references.
Interested buyers should have at least good ?horsey sense? and experience to understand that, although ?cautious,? she IS EASY to ?catch ?(a ?snackie / foodie? type), to handle, and ride, and goes willingly. Once you ?hold? her halter, she is ?your big puppy dog. Her timid ?quirk hasn?t seemed to be an ?issue? under saddle on the trail (with others), she is a ?follower,? but IS ?focused,? and brave.
The ONLY reason we are selling her, is because she unfortunately does not have confidence in herself to ?go out by herself,? and, we bought her intended for our grand-kids (who are beginners). We have since come to find that she?s a little more than they can handle at their stage, and I am not able to spend the time to work with her on improving her ?confidence? in going ?alone,? so the kids can take her out ? this is actually only a ?barn-sour? issue.
If you are able to deal with this ?issue,? she is truly a worthy horse for the right trail riding family or barn group of companions.
I cannot honestly suggest her for a ?very? beginner, but an advanced beginner or above rider ability, would very easily be able to enjoy her riding out with at least one other companion, and would LOVE Rosie for a, ?me & a buddy? ride, a barn-group trail ride, or family outing !
